This blog was once in full effect; frequent posts, many readers and interesting content. I let it go. I let it die. But, alas, it is resurrected. This time around I want to lay out some goals because as anyone who has run a blog knows, writing is hard and most of all, writing requires much discipline. I don’t know many people who have a ton of discipline, myself included, but, what I do know is that setting goals and adhering to them can in fact aid in the promotion of discipline and ultimately integrity.
Enough over-moralizing my aim for this thing, let’s have a look at the goals. I want to post thoughtful content here. Who ever really sets out to post thoughtless content, right? But that’s what ends up happening because often emotion gets the better of us and instead of being thoughtful, we end up ranting, especially where politics is concerned. So it’s important to me that I put in 2 parts emotion and 2 parts reason. We’ll see how that works out. I hope to refer to this post often when I loose site of why I’m blogging and what my intentions are for this work.
Primary Goal: To provide a level of thought about American politics and culture that (hopefully) helps reveal and promote the Truth (yes, I’m making a major assumption here).
What Makes This Blog Different: I want to share thoughts about American politics and culture in a thoughtful manner with an eye toward bringing complex issues back to more basic elements, thinking presuppositionally to promote political discourse that goes beyond mere opinion. And I want to try to restore some degree of depth to this once highly valued discipline (very ambitious, yes).
The Mechanics: Again, a successful blog is one that is consistent, both in frequency of posts and content. It is my goal to post 1 time per week at a minimum with thoughtful content at some length as well as posting interesting links, resources, etc.
Disclaimer: My goals are very ambitious and I’m aware of that. Being only human, I will fail to adhere to them with perfect consistency and will most certainly engage in ranting, thoughtlessness, buffoonery, belligerence, barbarism and occasionally, bouts of moral superiority as well as delusions of possessing intelligence far beyond my actual capacity. Let it be known! But, I do hope to keep that to a minimum….or at least low.
